CALUMET, Mich. (WBUP/WJMN) — For the first time in over 100 years, a new chandelier in the Calumet Theatre ballroom will be unveiled and illuminated to the public.

The original chandelier was destroyed by a fire in 1918. In recent years, the Calumet Theatre Chandelier Society, led by Calumet-native Jim Enrietti, has been raising funds through its annual dinners to replace the chandelier. Now, 106 years and seven months later, a new chandelier has been purchased and is ready to be displayed.

"The euphemism that the chandelier is, is its shedding light on projects around the theater. And it's a good way to get people to come and volunteer. Good, good way to make them become part of the theater and hold it close," said Dan Jamison, board president of the Calumet Theatre Company.

The Calumet Theatre and the Calumet Theatre Chandelier Society will be hosting a dinner on Saturday, June 28 starting at 4:30 p.m. Following the dinner, the chandelier will be revealed and illuminated for the first time. Dinner and reveal tickets are $60, and chandelier reveal only tickets are a $10 suggested donation. Proceeds will go toward future theatre projects.
